"Community Volunteer Center ground-breaking, 12:30 p.m. at 1734 Cedarwood St. in Port Charlotte. Building will house out-of-state volunteers coming to Charlotte County in the aftermath of Hurricane Charley and Habitat for Humanity volunteers dedicated to building affordable homes for people in need. The $300,000, 5,900-square-foot center is expected to be completed in the spring. Sponsored by The United Way of Charlotte County, The Interfaith, Interagency Network of Charlotte County and Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity. Open to the public. 627-3539."
